The SPI-LAB short course programme focuses on the needs of individuals, teams and enterprises participating in the value chain in the field of information technology and software engineering.
Individuals who benefit most from this course programme include software product line managers, project leaders, software developers, quality managers, and process specialists.
How are these courses provided?
Selections from the course portfolio are offered publicly on a regular basis in collaboration with the South African Quality Institute, and in-house by invitation.
How are in-house courses arranged?
The following schedule possibilities may be applied to in-house training:
- Short duration intensive course offerings - during the week or on Saturdays
- Training activity spread over a number of weeks or months with perhaps one or several presentations per session, perhaps in late afternoon - to minimise disruption to work in progress. The SPI-LAB is flexible in these arrangements.
What is provided to the course delegates?
Course ‘product’ comprises a selection of presentation materials, workshops, practical sessions, tutorial and course assessment materials. Electronic copy is provided in the form of a compact disk.
All aspects of the course content, venue selection, notes requirements, presentation approach, and costing are negotiable.
Do these courses qualify under the SAQA requirements?
At the present time there no defined requirements for the types of courses offered by the SPI-LAB. We are however, actively involved with the South Africa Quality Institute (SAQI) to define course offerings that may in future meet the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) approval.
What if I am not happy with the presented course?
We are confident of the quality of our public and in-house courses. We go to considerable lengths to ensure that administratively and technically the courses are the best we can offer. If, however, the client is not entirely satisfied with what is received on these courses the course fees will be refunded.
